Chad and Jamie, Declan, and new baby Kason James

After living in the Caribbean for many years, Chad and Jamie moved back to the USA for Chad's new job!  They are living in Marietta, Georgia and loving it.  Jamie gave birth to Kason James on 21 April, 2018. Willy and Deanna were able to arrive for the event as well as Jamie's mom Pam and nephew Xander.  Willy’s mom, Dorothy, Willy and Deanna visited them in Georgia for a southern celebration of the 4th of July!  We all took the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway to the border of Tennessee and Georgia. Deanna and Willy also were able to travel to spend Thanksgiving with Chad’s family. Willy enjoys taking his grandson Declan fishing when he visits.

Blue Line

Kirk and Melanie, Hudson and new baby Brooklyn Jayne

Kirk and Melanie are still living and working in Colorado but have moved to Lone Tree.  It is only a few miles south of Denver, about 12 miles from Willy and Deanna.  Melanie gave birth to Brooklyn Jayne on 14 May, 2018.  Dorothy came out to Colorado to see the new baby and family and Willy and Deanna.  Grandparents Jeff and Jayne also came from Hawaii for Brooklyn's arrival and visit frequently. Willy and Deanna enjoy spending daily life and special events and holidays with Kirk, Melanie and the grandbabies.  Deanna works part time and babysits for them frequently.

Activities and Events

We experienced the worst hailstorm we have ever seen. The hailstones were almost as big as raquet balls and broke our car windshield in five places, as we watched from a few feet away.  Sean and Danielle Baker and family where her visting that week and shared the experience with us.
Kirk and Willy also took Sean, Danielle and family on a float trip down the mild rapids on the South Platte river.
Willy tried wakesurfing for the first time in 2018. Even with decades of surfing experience, he didn’t look so smart.
Willy caught the biggest freshwater fish of his life, a 29 inch walleye! It gave us quite a few delicious meals.
Willy has been very involved in Toastmasters, a public speaking club. He was a member of two clubs, and went to about four per week.
Willy went on some short hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park with the Gleasons.

Visitors

 Chera Gleason came to visit Willy and Deanna. Tragically, Chera passed away later in the year suddenly with a brain tumor.  Her co-workers in Vail put together a memorial hike. Deanna and Willy joined Chera’s parents Dave and Brenda Gleason and family on the hike and stayed with them for the weekend in Vail.
Deanna's neice Danielle Baker and family took an extended road trip from California and stopped in for the weekend to visit us.
Dave Williams from California had a big family reunion in Denver. Willy enjoyed meeting them all.
Willy met with Ioana, a friend from Cayman, Angie from Houston, and Tom Elias from Houston.
Willy met with his cousin Tina’s daughter Lindsay O'Malley and her husband Tommy.
Willy and Deanna saw Darwin and Terri Keizer from Hawaii when they came to visit their son Jerome and his family and new baby.

Travels

Willy went to Phoenix and visited his parents. Both of his brothers, Larry and Garry, and Sister-in-Law Sheri came too.   Willy went golfing with his brother Garry and his 81 year old mother. He insisted she T-off from the men’s tees. Willy lost to his brother Garry, and lost to his mom by 24 strokes on 18 holes.
Willy & Deanna went to Kansas and visited her brother Rock’s family and farm. They visited Clarice and Abby. They saw Willy’s nephew Adam’s family and Willy tagged along with Adam when he went fishing.  Deanna took Willy by the house she grew up in.
While visiting his son Chad in Georgia, Willy drove to Birmingham to visit his childhood friend Bob Henderson, and his wife Mary Jane. Willy drove close to Huntsville to have lunch with Bob Greenman. Bob was the Captain of the USS Omaha (Navy Submarine) upon which Willy served.Willy flew to Miami, rented a van, picked up a pallet of things that Chad and Jamie shipped from the Bahamas, and delivered it to them in Georgia.  On the way, Willy visited many of his friends from his time in the Caribbean that now reside in Orlando.

Jiu-Jitsu

 Willy continues to practice and teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He teaches private classes and gives corporate seminars. He has had the privilege of training with some great Black belts this year including Rigan Machado, Nobuo Yagai, Juan “Juanaconda” Guevara, Nick Taufmann, Shawn Portela, Charlee Minkin, Ben Lowry, Tony Debelak, Sean Stewart, Junior Fidelis, Leanna Dittrich and many more.
