The techniques used are predominantly from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with a heavy emphasis on coping with situations on the ground.

Our class starts with a short warm up / stretch, utilizing movements and positions that have practical use in the techniques that we learn.

After the warm up, we learn a few techniques. Our techniques are designed to move us to a position where our opponent cannot hurt us, then advance to a position of control, where we can choose to either escape or to defeat the opponent.

The last and most important thing the class does is takes turns "going live" or "training." This is where the student spars one on one with each other or the instructor to test and apply the techniques learned. This part enables the student to recognize and act on opportunities in a realistic situation. The finishing techniques used are primarily chokes and joint locks. Although these moves are potentially dangerous, we apply them carefully to one another and "tap out" (give up) on position rather than pain in order to avoid injury.

Willy holds a Blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu from Rickson Gracie, and a Brown Belt in Judo from Mario Rubio.

Students are encouraged to train with the best instruction they can find.
